The Magic of Reading.

“Don’t judge a book, by its movie,”

Reading. Something you are taught to do at a very young age. Once you’ve got the hang of it, it becomes kind of boring. Why read Narnia? When you’ve got all the movies instead? Well quite frankly, a book, and its ‘motion picture’, are not alike , and never will be. As Francis Bacon puts it “Reading maketh a full man; conference a ready man; and writing an exact man” . Well we’ve got two things going good. You’re reading and well, I’m writing.

Go around, ask your friends if they read. Some would just say they probably cannot be bothered, or books are boring, some might even question their frienship with you. It is truly sadenning, in todays day and age, because reading isn’t just confined to words on paper. Now with modern technology you can read just about anything (and everything) on your ‘smart’ phone or your computer, rather than reading (and ignoring) the useless messages that annoying dude is sending you.

Well I promised myself I would keep this post short as most of us are too caught up in our daily endeavours, that we do not have time to read close to a thousand words. In short, reading is magical. When you watch a movie, yes it is really nice to see the Avengers come to life on the big screen. But you aren’t really seeing what your mind imagined, are you? You’re actually seeing what the director thought of. But when you read a book, you’re stepping out of your microcosm, you’re free to imagine whatever you want (within the words of the book). A really good writer could engulf you so much that you wouldn’t want to stop reading. Known as a book hangover ; When you’re so caught up in the book that you just finished and you can’t start reading another. If you find reading quite boring, and you’re frivourously flipping through the pages. Well continue by all means. The more you read, the more you will start to love it. It’s a passion not shared by many, and its an exclusive thing to read (as I’d put it). Well that’s it for today.
